The schooner Mary David was designed and built by R. Stevens in 1968 in Western Shore, Nova Scotia. First named Hakada, she was owned by Vic Dyer of Mahone Bay and later by Mike Whitehouse of Halifax who sailed her regularly to Newfoundland & Ste. Pierre et Miquelon with a crew of students eager to learn the ropes of schooner sailing. Fred Rhinelander bought her and renamed her Constance. With Lunenburg (Stonehurst) as her home port she has cruised extensively - three times to Newfoundland's south shore and the French Islands, once around that province and to Labrador, once to the Madeleines, twice to Gloucester/Boston, and once to the Vineyard. When not cruising she has been a regular participant in the activities of the NSSA. Graham Lutwick purchased Constance in 2003 and renamed her Mary David in honour of his parents.
